    This website is an initiative of Disability Rights Association Of Goa (DRAG) and Goa Sudharop to share information about disability in Goa.

    Goa has 15,749 disabled persons as per the 2001 Census, out of which 8,889 are males and 6,860 are females. Out of the 15,749 disabled persons, 4,393 persons are visually impaired, 1,000 persons are hearing impaired, 4,910 are mobility impaired, 3,578 are mentally impaired and 1,868 are speech impaired. National Sample Survey 2002 states that there are 22,000 disabled persons in Goa as on 2002.

    Disability Rights Association of Goa is a registered charitable society recognized by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government Of Goa. It was started in October 2003 by disabled persons with the following aims and objectives:

  • To advocate and lobby on the issues of persons with disabilities
  • To create awareness on disability issues
  • To share information and resources with the disabled
  • To network with like minded organizations for the welfare of the disabled in Goa

    It has won the prestigious Godfrey Phillips Bravery Award for exceptional act of social courage for the year 2004-2005.
